Moore Fingertip L-96 B in Autumn Pearl (Pen 2625)

Nib: 14 Kt Fine

The Moore Fingertip was Moore's most creative pen ever, created to compete with the Parker 51 in 1946. They came in eight colors, six of which were solid color molded plastic, and two of which were the super-desirable striped celluloids (like this one). The two celluloid colors were Autumn Pearl and Seaside Pearl. Even good Moore pens are prettier to look at than use. The nib, in this case a very smooth fine, is stiff, like a Parker 51, but it has a tendency to track ink along the sides of the 14 kt gold nib that's inlaid into the spun steel section. This one is in excellent condition. There's a hint of corrosion at the very tip of the section, under the nib. You can feel it with your nail more than see it. The cap is in excellent condition - none of the tiny cracks that can form around the cap top. There's one tiny spot of corrosion that looks like dried ink on the clip. This is about as pretty as a Fingertip can get - collector grade, essentially. 5", 127 mm.
