I will continue to post an interesting mix of consignment pens and restored pens I've found & fixed on my own. I'll be off-line from July 5-15 for our son's wedding, which also means no shipping after July 5 until the 16th or so.

I'm awash in interesting pens. Many of them come from the estate of Hal Arnold. When Hal died, he had hundreds of pens of his own. I'm selling them for Lois Novak, who helped Hal often late in his life. I also have consignment pens from several other people - so many that it's hard to get my own restored pens on the site. New pens should be going up very regularly.

For the pen business, the good news is that I'm changing jobs. After 5 years as the Vice Dean for Research at the Duke School of Medicine, I'm going back to leading a Center. Still busy, but I hope to have time for pens. I have lots stored up (actually, a huge backlog). I've now inventoried them, and I hope to post two or three a night regularly.

The lack of commentary is telling. Work has been consuming this year. Really consuming. So I'll post whenever I'm able, but don't count on frequency! I actually have a fair number of nice pens.

Things haven't changed since January. Work has been very busy, so I've had little time to acquire, repair, or scan pens to post on the site. However, a friend just came to me with a consignment of gorgeous pens, and I'll start posting them after vacation. I will be completely out of touch from June 23 to July 6, and house sitter doesn't check my e-mail.

It's been tough finding time for the site. So I'm sorry about the slow turnover of items. Hopefully at some point soon I'll be able to update the site - lots of pens here, but no time to post them. Thanks for stopping by though!

November has been very hectic for me, but I've just posted an entirely new set of pens on the "What's new" page. Lots more to come in the very near future.

Most of October I will be on vacation, out of e-mail range. It's a series of meetings, so I'll be in and out of town erratically, but I plan to "turn off" my e-mail for the period. See you in November

The start of the academic year is always hectic, so I've been slow to update the site. I have lots of pens to post, but little time to take care of the housekeeping. Hopefully Holly, who helped last year, will return from the garden soon. In the meantime, a few new postings, and you can always write if there's something you're looking for.

Those of you who know me well, know I changed jobs last July. For a while, it was easy to do the hobby business (this one) and work. Lately, work has been pretty intense, and the shipping department (my wife, Holly), has been pre-occupied with gardening. My hope is I'll have a little time to work on the site over the next few weekends. Watch for more pens being posted and faster e-mail responses.

Lots of new pens coming - we're late, but with the holidays we'll do our best to have some nice inventory for sale.

We've been traveling a bunch. Holly and I been on a couple of trips together, and I've been on a half a dozen more solo, all within a few weeks. Which has meant our continuity in the pen business has not been ideal! It also meant that I was in Washington at the Ritz (site of previous Washington Pen Supershows) when I should have been in Columbus. However, we're back. Holly's not planning to travel again this year, and my excursions will hopefully allow me enough time for pens. So we've posted a few, and have about 40-50 more to add in the next few weeks. Lots of bargain type pens - not as many fancy. The stuff of gifts?

The kids are off to school and Holly and I have begun to organize our inventory - at last! Lots of vintage English pens will be posted soon - Swans, Conway Stewarts - as well as the modern Conway Stewarts we have posted at excellent prices. We hope to add several pens a week - it's important to keep the site interesting!
Edgardo Matassoni - your return e-mail address does not work. Please check. We receive your e-mails, but receive "no mailbox by that name" notices on our attempts to send. Thanks!

We're getting ready for the DC Show in early August. It's a fantastic show, and this is the first time we'll have a table. Almost all our inventory will come with us - which means we might see some of you in DC, and also that you might consider buying that pen you've been thinking about now, as opposed to later! I'll also going out of town in late July for a week, during which time I hope to be in e-mail contact but won't be able to give detailed information about any pens. Also - you'll notice our increased number of new postings, and if you order you'll also notice our faster shipping. Those are both the results of Holly joining the business. I have a new job, which is taking more of my time, but she's more than taken up the slack!

RossPens has been busy this holiday weekend. We've posted lots of new pens, restored several we haven't had time to post yet, and begun a process of converting from a hand written inventory to a computerized one. My wife, Holly, is joining in the pen business now, and has taken charge of shipping and inventory control. I'll handle shopping for inventory, restorations and e-mail. So far we've figured out we have over 300 pens in our inventory, but it's tough to get that many posted on the web. Keep watching!

I'm going to be putting some pens on sale that haven't moved in a while. Check back to see if something you've been interested in has a reduced price.

I just received my first shipment of new Conway Stewart pens. I have Churchills and 58s posted on my new Conway Stewart page. I also have Conway Stewart ink in black, blue, brown, and red. A good selection of nibs on the 58s. Dandys are on order. Watch for them to appear on a Conway Stewart page soon.
May 25, 2002
Hopefully I'll have a chance to post new pens steadily over the next few weeks. No major travel plans for a while and lots of pens that need to be be posted on the site.

Credit where credit is due: David Nishimura has always had a news column for his site, and I like it. I'm borrowing the idea, but being academic, this is also my footnote of thanks to David. -- I added a bunch of modern pens over the last few days. I'll be adding some vintage pens soon, but they'll be a bit delayed because I'll be out of town much of the weekend.
RossPens Policies
Guarantee: Once the pen arrives, you have 21 days to decide if it meets your expectations. Most of my pens are old, they have personality, and it can take a bit to decide whether you bond or not. I do my best to describe them honestly, warts and all. I'm not perfect, and one person's medium is another person's fine. I want you to be happy with your purchase. If you are not happy, let me know. On return of the pen, I will refund the original purchase price. If a pen is not working as it should be, you can either return it for repairs, or return it and receive a refund. Again, I hope it never happens, but I'm not perfect, and I will do everything in my power to make you happy with your purchase!
To order: Send me an e-mail describing the pen you'd like (ross@rosspens.com). I'll confirm that I still have it in stock, then we'll correspond regarding payment method. If the purchase is international, we'll sort out shipping options and costs.
Payment: I accept PayPal (address: rossmck@mindspring.com), personal checks, and money orders. I
