Pelikan has been making wonderful piston-filled pens since
1929. The company had its roots in the 1870s, when it began as a maker of inks. The pens are often similar in
appearance, and I'll confess I find it difficult to determine one model from another. The best aspect to a Pelikan
is not its looks, but how the pens write. They are among the best, and very reliable.

| Pelikan 400 Tortoise - Flexible Nib |
In great condition, what makes this Pelikan distinctive (beside the
beautiful color and superb transparency) is the flexible BB nib. This
is a fantastic signature pen. The only flaw is a little brassing at
the end of the clip (where it curves up). PIston filler. The cap
is actually a very dark brown, rather than black. 5 3/16", 131 mm.

| Pelikan 400 Tortoiseshell |

This a pretty Pelikan 400 with a dark brown cap and tortoiseshell barrel.
The medium is a 14 Kt medium with flex on moderate pressure. This has the
early feed, so I believe it's the version of the 400 from 1954-1956. 4 7/8",
125 mm.
