Waterman Ringtops

I received this collection of Waterman Ringtops to sell on consignment. These are gorgeous pens from the first three decades of the 20th century, designed for women to hang on a neck sash.  They're closer to jewelry than a Senior Duofold, but they do write (often well!).  All these are lever fillers and they write as they should, given the limitations of the smaller ("lady-like") size.  The pens' owner had extremely good taste, and this is a good way to get  overlay pens in your collection without a second mortgage.  In the labels, 5xx means solid gold, 05xx means gold filled.  4xx means sterling silver. The 5 in the tens column denotes a lever filler.  And the ones column is the nib size.  "1/2" means a thin barrel, while "V" means a short pen.

Waterman 552 1/2 - 14 Kt Gold Ladies Filagree

This gold filagree Waterman is in beautiful shape, not engraved with initials or a name.  The nib is a fine flex, with serious flex.  There's some wear to the end of the barrel as a result of posting, and a few dents to the lip at the end of the barrel (pretty minor - probably also the result of posting).  There are no other problems with the overlay - it's gorgeous.  This is a truly beautiful pen that you're likely to use, given the superb flex nib.

Price: $300 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 452 1/2V - Plain Sterling Silver

A plain sterling silver 452 1/2V with gorgeous engraved initials (I believe it's "A.B.W." in a florid script).  The nib is a flexible Waterman Ideal - somewhat toothy, but very quick to flex from fine to broad.  Condition on the pen is superb - only light surface wear.

Price: $125 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 0552 1/2V Gold Filled Overlay

This gold filled Waterman overlay is in beautiful shape, not engraved with initials or a name.  the nib is a semi-flexible fine (actually, with any other maker I'd say the nib was flex, but this one is stiffer than most Waterman flex nibs). 3 5/8", 92mm

Price: $140 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 452 1/2V Sterling Silver

This pen has a fine -medium flexible nib that's a bit stiffer than average. The pen has the patina of age (that's all positive - I don't mean it's rusted or worn), and an indicia with "L C A" in a florid cursive (which you can see in the scan). No brassing, almost no wear...

Price: $125 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 0552 1/2V Gold Filled Overlay

An excellent fine flex nib is the highlight for this overlay RT. There's quite a bit of brassing of the barrel, both at the posting end, and where the cap has worn through the gold-fill.  There's a pretty floral pattern indicia (the pattern surrounding where the initials could go - but there aren't any). The cap is in near perfect shape.

Price: $125 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 452 1/2V Sterling "Hand Engraved Vine" Pattern

The "hand engraved vine" pattern is gorgeous, and the silver overlay in good condition. There's some denting round the end of the barrel (from posting or minor bounces). The indicia has "M.L.B." as initials (maybe it's "M.L.R." - hard to tell) in a florid pattern that matches the vines.  Super nice looking.

Price: $135 inclusive of S/H/I

Waterman 0552 1/2V Gold-Filled Overlay Set

A pen and pencil set.  The pen has a great fine flex nib.  The condition is super, and the indicia has no initials.  I'm not sure what the engraving pattern is called, but it's pretty and floral.

Price: $160 inclusive of S/H/I
